J.A. Creative Honored with two Hermes Creative Awards

By Anna at 10:48 am on Wednesday, May 13, 2009

J.A. Creative, a local marketing firm based in Falls Church, Virginia, is pleased to announce they are the recipients of two awards in the Hermes Creative Awards 2009 competition. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition to recognize the outstanding work of creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media.

The Hermes Creative Awards, administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP), received over 3,700 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries.

J.A. Creative received the Platinum Award for their work on the Fairfax Partnership for Youth (FPY) annual awards breakfast entitled “Changing Lives- One Youth at a Time.” The comprehensive event materials featured a unique imagery that communicated the focus on teen achievement in community service. The Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness.

“The Fairfax Partnership for Youth was very fortunate to have J.A. Creative work with us on our theme and materials for one of our most important events of the year. Having materials that appeal to youth audiences can be a bit tricky and J.A. Creative was outstanding in exploring various design options to create the message and image we wanted to portray”, states Linda Eatmon-Jones, Executive Director for FPY. “Their concepts and final products were always of the highest quality and their professionalism was outstanding.”

The second award was presented for the myNeighborsNetwork.com 2009 Ad Packet. This award, an Honorable Mention, indicates the work meets the expectations of the judges in upholding a high standard of excellence. Sharon Rainey, founder and President of myNeighborsNetwork.com notes, “Our advertising products are unique and complex. J.A. Creative envisioned and developed a high impact sales tool that caught the attention of prospective advertisers and then effectively communicated the value of advertising on our network.”

J.A. Creative provides services ranging from marketing strategy and implementation to creative design including logo development and identity systems, web design, packaging, advertising, collateral and promotional materials. A Book For Elie Postcard

After many hours of work, I’ve finally completed the artwork for the childrens’ book, A Book for Elie! Copies of the book can now be bought here at Tenley Circle Press.

I took pictures of some of the wooden panels, as the artwork progressed. Here are a few snapshots of the Cover piece:

1. First I traced the sketch onto the piece of wood using carbon paper.

2. Here it is with the traced image, before I started painting.

3. I began by painting in certain colors.

5. Once I had a digital version of the painting in my computer, I would add a few finishing touches in Photoshop and the text in Illustrator.

Look for A Book for Elie to be out soon!

The experiment has been postponed…

By Anna at 7:23 pm on Friday, June 6, 2008

Due to power outages and the flu going around, I’ve postponed my participation in the Farmer’s Market. I’ll post my rescheduled date as soon as I know when there’s another available booth!

The experiment…

By Anna at 9:32 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2008

This Saturday from 8a - 12p –>

Great Falls, VA
Farmer’s Market

Come to my booth and check out some of the stuff I’ll be selling. Along with a few other items, I decided to try selling my stretched fabric paintings (like the ones at Artomatic) but for a little bit more mainstream market. Just testing it out to see what happens…

Stop by and visit! This particular Farmer’s Market is a new one to the area and is supposed to be great.
